Widsom of Youth – Networking Women (and Men)
When my daughter started her Mary Kay business, she worked primarily with her warm market, but then… she needed more contacts. The idea of drumming up Mary Kay business by knocking on doors didn’t really appeal to her, but the idea of growing a business was required. She wanted to be a stay at home mom and Mary Kay was her method of choice.
Networking –
There are many ways of building your network of clients, but she found one of the most simply and profitable ways of building a network of clients in networking groups. No limits. She meets men and women at networking events. Men become gift customers. She sells them easy to give, gift packages with wrapping paper and a card, so all they have to do is sign the card and give the gift. Women become monthly clients.
And, the wives of those men, find her gift card inside the gift, often calling her to request more of favorite items. This gives her an opportunity to create a new monthly client by selling the woman color, offering free facials and other benefits they wouldn’t normally get with their husbands just buying gifts.
Warm Chatter –
Going to a mall or other open place and striking up a conversation with a stranger make perfect sense when you’re a Mary Kay lady. After all, women like compliments.
“You have the most amazing child. How old is he?”Mom’s like to talk about their children. They’ll tell you their child’s latest accomplishments and all the pitfalls of parenting.
But, did you know, the average woman cannot tell you what color eye shadow they wear? If they know what color family, that’s a bonus, but most don’t really notice.
But, eye color makes a big difference in the way other people see you. if you have sparkling blue eyes and wear a soft lavender shadow, your eyes pop. The sparkle attracts others.
Warm chatter will give you clues about the person you’re meeting, and tell you how soon you can give them information about what you market. Don’t be shy, speak up.
Young women, the coolest women on the planet, in marketing industries understand the value of networking with men and women. Intermingling opportunities come around often, don’t miss them.
